correlation

(correlations; negative correlation; positive correlation; zero correlation;)

A statistical method to determine the strength and direction (positive or negative) of the relationship between two variables.

A negative correlation (inverse) indicates that when one variable increases, the other variable decreases.

A positive correlation indicates the relationship is in the same direction e.g., if one variable goes up, so does the other; or when one variable decreases, the other also decreases.

A zero correlation indicates no systematic relationship exists between the two variables.
