(behavioral observations; observational; observations)

1.) A method of data collection commonly used in field research where certain behavior is systematically observed and recorded. Observation methods include casual observation, participant observation, and ethnography.

2.) An observation is a value of a variable. In an experiment, different values of a variable are recorded. For example, if the variable being studied is height, 5 feet 1 inch is an observation.
